President Uhuru Kenyatta has organised a second Sagana convention, bringing together all elected and non-elected leaders from the Mt Kenya region. The first meeting was held in November 2019.

According to sources from Harambee House, the meeting at Sagana State Lodge next week will be used by the Head of State and his Mt Kenya allies, to strategise on how to drum up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

”We have a meeting this weekend in Nairobi to finalise on the Sagana convention, which will bring together both elected and government officials from the region. We are also targeting grassroots leaders since it will not be a one-day event.”

”The kind of momentum we are going to gather after the president’s meeting will surprise many. We have been quiet but we are now determined to go full throttle. You just wait and see,” a senior state official told a local publication on Friday.

As the Head of State is trying to put in place effective strategies to contain the the BBI dissent in his backyard, DP William Ruto plans to erect a new obstacle for his boss.

DP Ruto’s faction in Mt Kenya has organised a meeting with all elected MCAs from the vote-rich region to plot on falling the BBI Amendment Bill 2020 in the County Assembly. The MCAs from across the 10 counties in the region will be meeting at Thika Greens in Murang’a today, while a similar meeting has been scheduled for next weekend in Nyahururu.

  1. But why can’t Uhuru use his power to cut Ruto to size? Why must he continue working with a deputy hellbent to frustrate his agenda?

    • Which powers, imaginary powers I suppose! William Ruto was elected by over 8 million voters and is not a political appointee of the president. There is nothing Uhuru can do, afterall, his presidency is as a result of Ruto’s support!
