Amason Kingi has decided to launch his own political party, a vehicle he will use to run for the country’s top seat in 2022. This is according to multiple sources close to the Kilifi Governor, who has also dumped the talks to emerge Coast political parties into a single Coalition.

According to the sources, Governor Kingi already has the political party and is determined to unveil it by June this year.

On the other hand, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has intensified his engagement with smaller political outfits in the Coast region, among them Shirikosho and Umoja Summit Parties.

On Friday, the Kwale boss held a three-hour meeting with officials of the two parties at his residence, on how they can be a part of a broader alliance, to represent the Coast people in 2022.

Questions now emerge, whether Governor Kingi’s move to form his own political party, and use it run for presidency, was deliberate.

There are those who argue, this may be an elaborate scheme by those pulling the strings of Uhuru’s succession, to bloat the 2022 presidential race. So as to force a run-off in favor of a ‘deep-state’ candidate.
