Communications Authority of Kenya has suspended the license of Mt. Kenya TV, an enterprise owned by Kirinyaga Women Rep Purity Ngirici, and associated with DP William Ruto.

On Wednesday, the media house had its license withdrawn after members of the public complained of adult content material being aired during the watershed period, between 5am-10pm.

This decision, as explained by acting the CA acting director-general Mercy Wanjau said the TV channel owned by Slopes Media House Ltd, breached the Broadcasting Regulations, the Programme Code, and the terms and conditions of the station’s broadcasting license, hence the closure.

”On April 19, 2021, at 2pm, during the ‘Mucii wa Ciina’ programme that featured an animated movie, the station aired sexually explicit content, drug abuse, robbery, and violence,” Ms. Wanjau said on Wednesday.

Slopes Media has also been directed to go offline for 14 days, during that period, it has been asked to get its house in order and fully adhere to the Communications Authority regulations, plus ensure Mt Kenya TV is fully compliant as stated in the licensing terms.
